Oz Naturals Nourishing Soufflè

Oz Naturals is a great brand, I’ve loved all that I’ve tried in their line of beauty products so far and have not yet been disappointed. When I saw this Olive & JoJoba Oil Nourishing Soufflè, it sounded wonderful. I mean the word “soufflè” just makes me think of decadence, luxury, and something that you want to dip into and thoroughly savor and enjoy. Of course, when you think of soufflè, it’s usually food related, rather than something that you apply to the skin.

20160115_220017In this instance, soufflè is just a fancy word for lotion or moisturizer. It says that it is “a whipped soufflè of moisturizing Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Olive and Jojoba oils that promote long-lasting softness”. While I agree that it is moisturizing and seems to last all day, and while the ingredients may have been whipped, the texture and appearance isn’t “whipped” like I would assume it would be – light and fluffy and full of air pockets like a whipped cream. Instead, it’s like I mentioned before, the texture, appearance, and feel of a lotion.

It doesn’t have a fragrance other than the natural oils within, which is very mild (which is always good in my book). It glides on the skin smoothly and is non-greasy, leaving the skin soft and supple. So though the name may evoke other expectations (i.e. fluffy, whipped-ness) that it ended up not being, it is still a pretty darn good body moisturizer and I am still a fan of this company and brand!

For the curious, the product description, as per Amazon: “Organic body moisturizer with olive and jojoba oil is the next step in the evolution of personal care for your entire body. Whipped to perfection, this excellent moisturizer gives your body the hydration it needs. This rich souffle which includes aloe vera, green tea, shea butter, and vitamin B5 softens rough spots, and heals dry skin, and is also an excellent massage cream. Cruelty free, organic olive and jojoba oil nourishing souffle does not contain alcohol, parabens or sulfates, and is safe for all skin types. Made in the USA in a state of the art FDA registered facility.”

On a side-note, I just noticed that in the description it says “does not contain alcohol”, but on the ingredients list it has “cetyl alcohol”, this might be a little confusing, so I did a little research and to clarify:

Cetyl alcohol “works as an emollient, emulsifier, thickener and carrying agent for other ingredients contained in a cosmetic solution. It keeps the oil and water parts of an emulsion from separating, and gives products good spreadability. […] It is often misinterpreted as an “alcohol” related to ethyl or rubbing alcohol, both of which can be extremely drying to the skin. The truth, in fact, is quite the opposite, as cetyl alcohol is well known to effectively condition and soften the skin and hair. Because of its multi-functional capabilities, this ingredient is used in a wide range of personal care products such as moisturizer, face cream, shampoo/conditioner, anti-aging treatment, hair dye, sunscreen, cleanser and lipstick.” via Truth In Aging.
