I reviewed the Valentia True Glow Eye Cream not too long ago and was overall impressed by this company and its product. I’ve been using that eye cream since the review and though it hasn’t done much to lighten my dark under eye circles, I just like the product in general – its appeal, the scent, and it does work to control puffiness.
Now I’m reviewing the Valentia Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask. Let me just say that my views on this company haven’t changed, I think it’s worthy of a high-end or spa clientele market.
Product description per the box: “A natural kaolin and botanical based mask gently removes excess dirt and oil while deeply cleansing and exfoliating the skin to reveal softer, smoother skin. Key Ingredients- Kaolin Clay: Known for its detoxifying powers, clay minerals draw out impurities, improve skin tone, and lighten pores for smoother firmer skin; Plant Stem Cells: This French developed constituent naturally decreases the level of pro-aging toxins working to soothe the skin, reduce redness, and improve evenness; Spirulina: A botanical stimulant full of vitamins and minerals that hydrates the skin’s surface and contributes to tissue regeneration of the skin; CoQ10: Responsible for cell production in the human body, lessens the appearance of wrinkles by reducing free radical damage and stimulating healthy collagen production; Hibiscus & Cranberry Fibers: Both lend their anti-aging properties to firm and reinforce the skin, helping to reduce the creation of new wrinkles; Astaxanthin: A powerful antioxidant that repairs collagen production, combats free radical damage, and restores skin to elastic, bright, and wrinkle free tones and textures.”
I always wonder about some of the key ingredients in these beauty products and it’s always nice when they explain what they are, why they are being used in the product, and what benefits they bring. Also love that it is alcohol and paraben free.
This product smells like berries, or more specifically like cranberry fragrance, it’s very strong, but not in a cloying way. It does have slightly remind me of cough syrup, but slightly sweeter and not as off-putting, I should say? I could probably sniff it all day and it wouldn’t bother me.
When I opened the jar, there was a little bit of separation with some liquid at the top, so I do recommend stirring it before each use to recombine the ingredients. The separation is pretty clean, so it’s nothing to fret over. The mask is like a thick clay slip, but creamy, with bits of black exfoliating particles.
Smoothing it on the face is a little messy, but I didn’t expect a clay mask not to be! As you can see I managed to get it everywhere – in my hair, on my top, but yet somehow didn’t get enough on my forehead? I don’t even know! Haha.
It glides on easy enough and is very cold when it’s cold in the room! I was freezing (nothing really to do with this product though, but the cool air made it feel like I stuck my head in the freezer). There was tingling, on an overall minute level, not a stinging, per se, but I knew it was getting down into my pores, if that makes sense. This mask stayed on for 18 minutes (15-20 minutes as per directions), and I used a wet WARM cloth to help remove it. It took a while to remove because those tiny exfoliating particles clung on for dear life, both to my face and the cloth. I had to rinse the cloth quite a bit, wipe my face, rinse, repeat, etc. until it was all gone. With these tiny particles make every effort NOT to get any, not even one, in your eye. It will be like sand in your eye. How I managed to get stuff in my eye every single time is beyond me, I just think it’s so I can pass the message on to you guys so you’re more aware of it, LOL.
Afterward, my skin felt soft and rosy and happy. A happy face is a good thing! This mask ranks up in my faves!
I’ll be reviewing the Valentia Eternal Youth Exfoliating Scrub and also their Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask soon. Keep an eye open for those!
