If you’re like me, you drag your butt to bed, but sigh heavily before doing so because OH! you remember you still have to do your night-time beauty regimen (ahem… the biggie, washing off your makeup). I’m always looking for quick makeup removal solutions.
This review is for the MoMoUP Finger-Cot Make-up Remover Cotton Pads made by Shanghai Lily & Beauty Cosmetics Co.
The packaging is cute! It comes in a sturdy white box with light blue and pink polka dots and contains 25 packages with 2 finger-cot pads in each. Which ends up being about $0.52 per package, $0.26 per pad, not bad! (at the current pricing)
The pads are unlike any I, personally, have seen, I love the finger-cot application of these! When I used a regular cloth, I tend to use two fingers anyway, and this just makes perfect sense. I guess I have slightly chubby fingers though, as I wish these were slightly wider so they’d be a little easier to dress onto two fingers.
Starting off I used one side of one of the pads, then flipped the pad to the other side, then did the same with the 2nd pad – that way I use both sides of both pads.
When using, I don’t recommend starting on your eye, as that’s when the most concentration of the “lotion” (as they call the cleanser) is on the pad and it’ll get in your eye like it did mine (see video below, lol). These pads work brilliantly and get the majority of a complete makeup off in less than 5 minutes! It glides on the skin smoothly and has a scent similar to handwipes, but maybe milder.
Now about the actual formula of the lotion. Here’s the list of “main” ingredients: water, non-woven fabrics, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Glycerin, Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA.
As you’ll notice it does contain parabens… Also I got a kick out of it containing disodium EDTA because in my CMP class last quarter I learned that this is used as an additive to some venipunture (blood) collection tubes for the purposes of anticoagulation. Apparently, it’s a common thing in beauty products though, but I’m not sure if there are any side-effects or what purpose it serves in these types of products. I am curious as to what the non-main ingredients might be though, as they are not listed anywhere on the packaging or product listing.
Aside from the parabens, with the current price-point, I love the shape and unique finger-cot dressing of these pads, if paired with a more natural cleanser solution (like coconut oil) these would be even more kick-butt awesome!
Product demo video – please note I’m still getting used to the idea of being in front of the camera, lol, so it’s a little boring, unedited (haven’t gotten that far in the video making process yet) and I kept getting the stuff in my eye so I roll my eyes a lot… Be gentle with me! 😉
