La Magie Organic Hair Growth Serum

As I get older, my hair gets thinner and I lose more of it. I’m always looking for remedies or something to help stop hair loss and help to regrow as well as thicken my hair. So I was glad to find La Magie to test out their hair growth serum product.

Product description: “An organic farm in the USA created this amazing healing blend with earth-friendly, aromatherapy. Luxurious beauty secrets from Mother Nature blended with modern laboratory precision at La Magie®. Organic Argan oil from artisan farmers in Morocco nourishes and makes the shaft supple. STOP HAIR LOSS […] EXPERIENCE HAIR REGROWTH: DRAMATICALLY SEE HAIR THICKEN AND GROW! […] Pumpkin Seed Oil offers broad-Spectrum DHT Blockers which inhibit DHT formation through the inhibitory effect on 5-alpha-reductase activity. Known to be beneficial for hair growth; Rosehip seed oil delays the effects of aging, assists with cell regeneration, and promotes collagen and elastin levels; Has a high amount of essential fatty acids & Vitamin E, promotes your healthy hair; Created based on the physiology and anatomy of human hair and hair follicles. Works to stimulate hair by encouraging the skin’s micro-circulation to follicles of treated areas; Organic Ingredients, No SLS (Sulfates), parabens, chemical preservatives.

The serum comes in a cobalt blue glass bottle, which is alternative to the amber bottle that you typically see if it contains essential oils, and it has a spray top. The bottle was sent in a nice green organza bag, along with a bookmark with the instructions and a nice little blurb about hummingbirds.

The serum is basically a mixture of essential oils, carrier oils, and absolutes; ingredients: “organic pumpkin seed & argan 2% absolutes & essential oils”.

As with all essential oils, you want to do a skin patch test prior to use to check for an allergic reaction. And as they are oils, I found that spraying into your hand and then applying to your hair is better than spraying directly onto your hair.  A little of this product goes a long way. What I show in my palm in the photo above is actually 2 sprays which is too much and I have long hair. At night before bed, I sprayed a little into my palm, gathered the ends of my hair and worked it upwards towards my scalp – massaging and rubbing the product in for 5-10 minutes (though, honestly, I probably spent less time than that), then I brushed my hair to help distribute the product even more.  It says to let it rest for 20 minutes after application and then shampoo as usual, but I don’t usually have 30 minutes to wait before showering in the morning, which is why I opted to do it at night before bed and then I just wash it out with shampoo and conditioner in the morning.

Like I mentioned before, the product is made entirely of oils, so it is oily; and being that it is full of essential oils it is heady of aromas, as in aromatherapy – which normally aids in sleep or putting you into a tranquil state. Tip: If you use too much and find that it’s too oily after shampooing, try a vinegar rinse.

I’ve only been using the product for a week and a half, so haven’t noticed any slowing down of hair loss or new hair growth, but my hair is softer and looks and feels lighter (both in color and texture; though color lightening I’m not sure if that’s an effect of the product or something else). This product probably needs at least another two and a half weeks to see results if any.

The thing about essential oils is that they can be used for hair, skin, aromatherapy, meditation, as well as perfume, so it is very versatile, making a great product to have around.
