I kind of went off track with my face masks 🙁 the past 2 Sundays I haven’t been able to post about them and then I had the idea to switch it to Mondays, but that didn’t happen either. So here I am on a Wednesday, better late than never! 🙂
Purity Made Simple Deep-Clean Mask by philosophy – product description: “transforms dull, tired skin and give it a luminous, spa-like glow in just 60 seconds. Fortified with mineral-rich, deep-cleansing sea salts to help naturally purify and detoxify, while marine extracts and vitamin E help smooth the look of skin.”
I clean my face first, then dry it before applying the mask. It’s a translucent gel out of the tube, but turns white when you apply it to dry skin. All it takes is 60 seconds and then you wash it off completely. It does make my skin a little red and the scent of the ingredients (not fragrance per se) is pretty strong. It does a good job at cleansing, but it can be a little aggressive to sensitive skin, like mine.
It’s available at Ulta for $25. (link) And right now if you order online, there are these two specials:
FREE packette sample Purity Made Simple with any Philosophy purchase (offer valid 12/1/15-12/24/15 or while supplies last)
FREE deluxe sample Ultimate Miracle Worker Night with any $50 Philosophy purchase (offer valid 12/13/15-12/24/15 or while supplies last)
Dr.Jart + Water Replenishment Cotton Sheet Mask – I received this mask through Birchbox‘s November box. Product description: “Face masks aren’t just good at getting rid of the bad stuff (impurities, dull skin): They’re also great for infusing our complexion with the things it so desperately needs, like moisture. This light, refreshing cotton mask is loaded with a hydrating serum, letting us nourish our dry, parched skin and achieve a dewy look.”
The mask was very cooling and the scent was soothing and clean. I had a headache at the time and it actually temporarily helped relieve it – not sure if it was the ingredients or the cool air hitting the serum and cooling my head and face down. After I put it on, it immediately started to drip down into my eyes like a waterfall. It stung. And it kept coming for a few minutes so I had to keep wiping at my eyes. Aside from that this was a great mask that felt good during and after. I kept it on for about 20 minutes, it said 15-20 minutes and then massaged the remaining serum into my face, neck, and decolletage. My complexion was nice and bright and moisturized-looking. It’s one of the better masks I’ve tried and I’d use it again, if not for the price factor.
Birchbox sells it for $7.50 per sheet. (link)
Lastly, Tonymoly I’m Real Avocado Mask Sheet Nutrition. Received this one through 3b‘s December box. Product description: “We love this sheet mask for its ability to brighten, tighten, and hydrate our skin during the winter season. Avocado mask makes dull skin look radiant and glowing.”
Half of me expected to see some sort of green, whether the color of the sheet or the serum, but nope, it was the typical white. The sheet was soft and the scent was pleasant. I left it on for 25 minutes and it never once dripped into my eyes, thank goodness! I freaked my son out though, lol, and he called me a weirdo – ah well.
Afterward, like the Dr.Jart+ mask, the serum was massaged into my face, neck, and decolletage. My complexion was “fresh”-looking for the most part except for some pinpoint reddening here and there on my cheeks and forehead. The skin felt smooth and soft. Unfortunately, when it came time to apply makeup later that day, my skin was dry and peely-looking everywhere, which of course my foundation enhanced and highlighted thoughtfully :/ So no bueno for this one.
Right now they don’t have full-sizes available on their site, but it looks like that’s in the works. You can check out 3b here at this (link).
