Apparently, getting older comes with some minor inconveniences like your joints and muscles aching. For me, mine don’t bother me as much, but sometimes at night they do and it tends to wake me up or keep me up – especially RLS (restless leg syndrome).
Vita Sciences has this cream called Joint RightTM and they describe it as follows: “formulated with natural ingredients that have been scientifically proven to work. Our double-duty formula delivers long-lasting relief by supporting joint health inside and out. […] targets specific inflammation of the joints wherever it occurs, providing instant pain relief […] specially-formulated therapeutic nutrients continue to provide long-term relief by building up mucosal joint linings-lubricating the joints, resulting in total freedom from aching joint pain and tenderness. [….] provides targeted relief without the harmful side effects associated with oral scription medications.” and states on the front of the box: “Natural Cox2 Inhibitor, Fast Acting, Skin Soothing Aloe, Vitamin E, B-5, Chamomile.”
I was provided with this product, and the product below, complimentary in exchange for honest reviews.
It comes in a nice box, double the size of the product, but there is a separator inside to keep it from rolling around. The bottle has a shrink wrap seal and is in a convenient press pump style.
It does have what I assume is an important note, as it is written in caps on the box: “Adults and children 12 years of age and older. [….] Wash hands immediately after application.”
The cream is like your typical topical white cream-type ointment, and the dosage is simple – two full pumps. It is very lightly scented with only a faint trace of menthol, very very minute compared to muscle pain creams that are heavily scented with menthol. I like that this product also contains Witch Hazel (which is an alternative to alcohol and much better for your skin), aloe, coconut oil and other natural ingredients. It goes on smoothly, as you would expect, but it’s not so heavy that you have to massage it for very long before the “whiteness” of it disappears into your skin. It’s also not oil or greasy. I applied this to my knees, calves (even though that’s a muscle and not a joint), and hips — my periodic nightly trouble spots. I’m happy to report that I didn’t experience any aches or RLS for the nights that I applied this! So I would have to say that this product is a must when it comes to joint and muscle pain.
The other product I received from Vita Sciences is theraCALMTM, which is a Stress Relief Cream. It is also made with natural ingredients and comes in similar packaging shape and containment to the Joint Right cream. According to the box it contains “GABA, L-Theanine & 5-HTM” (I’ll have to Google these), “clinically tested ingredients, hypo allergenic, without parabens”.
This also has what I, again, assume is important to note: “Adults 18 years of age and older” and though not in caps, I thought I should mention, just in case, “Not intended for application to face.”
This cream is not like the other, it comes out in the same manor, but this is slightly different in texture, and on the brownish-olive green side (like a light colored poo). The scent is stronger, but is earthy, like a mint green tea and definitely more reminiscent of a muscle pain relief cream. The directions on the box are very simple, but on Amazon, they say “Simply apply in the morning or during the day when feeling stressed anxious or tense you can apply at nighttime before sleep for a blissful restorative sleep without grogginess the next morning”. The directions do not specify where to apply the cream, so I assumed in areas of most tension – in my case it’s the shoulders and neck area and sometimes my lower back.
I applied this cream before bed. It is only slightly on the oily side, and it makes your skin tingle a little, but let me tell you, it works! I’m normally a very restless sleeper — have difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep and when I wake up it’s even harder to go back to sleep. With this cream it didn’t take me very long to fall asleep and although I woke up during the night (because my snoring woke me), I went back to sleep right away. I love this cream, yes, it is my new bed buddy! I plan on trying this on my neck in the morning before having to go to class and see if that helps my stress levels, hopefully it doesn’t put me to sleep in class though, haha, cause that would be bad.
