I love coconut oil – use it on my face, body, as a mouth wash, and for cooking. When I saw this New Pompeian Coconut Oil Non-Stick Cooking Spray at Dillons, I automatically thought: quick, easy, good for you, get it.
The bottle says: “beneficial MCTs – fuel for brain and muscle function, Eco-friendly, no propellants, no CTCs, 0g trans fats, no cholesterol, no preservatives, naturally gluten free”
The bottle is light-weight, and when you press the top, the oil sprays out evenly, but not like other spray oils instead of in a round spray (think kabuki brush) it comes out in a flat line spray (think fan brush) – which I like, it’s neat and makes coating easy. As far as tastes go, once you spray it on the food and cook the food, you can’t detect a coconut oil flavor. However, the one thing I absolutely do not like is that is smells like and reminds me of suntan lotion. When you spray for a consistent amount of time it floats up and gets into the nasal passages (making me cough) with that cloying suntan lotion scent. No, no, no, sorry Pompeian, I will stick with the extra virgin coconut oil that I have to scoop out with a spoon. No suntan lotion in my food.
Next we have my latest snack find:
barkThins snacking chocolate in Dark Chocolate Blueberry with Quinoa Crunch, picked up from Natural Grocers. It has fair trade certified ingredients, non-gmo. It has that rich dark chocolate flavor covering crunchy quinoa and blueberries. It’s very good, semi-sweet, but not too sweet and not too bitter. The quinoa is crunchy, but in that hard crunchy way, not the crispy crunchy that I was expecting, and I think the blueberry flavor gets lost a little in the dark chocolate. Will I get it again? Probably not, I might try the Dark Chocolate Mint though. But if you wanted to try it, they also have other flavors: Dark Chocolate Almond, Dark Chocolate Pretzel, Dark Chocolate Mint, Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Seed, Dark Chocolate Toasted Coconut, and Dark Chocolate Peppermint Pretzel.
Have you tried either of these? What are your thoughts?
